This is why, this is why, this is why we FLIPPED

Why MNW Flipped
Had a few kids that had to choose between Calculus and an AP English Course. Originally intended on just making an online class for them.

As we thought more about it, we decided to try the flip teaching strategy

How we do it at MNW
The students stay on the same pace (for now) and are required to watch the next day’s topic as their homework for the night before. Generally kids have been receptive to only having 10-20 minutes of homework each night.

I ask them a question (maybe next year check notes) to see whether they watched the video or not, or if they understood what was on the video

The students that get the problem right move onto their assignment/activity. Students how watched the video and still don’t understand meet with me and we talk about material.

What it has done for us
Students have been “forced” to take learning into their own hands. “Forced” to ask questions.

Given us time to do some more challenging/more hands on projects during out 62 minutes in class.
